Today’s sightseeing begins at the Temple of Heaven, where the Qing emperors prayed for good harvests. In the early morning many locals practise Tai Chi and Ballroom Dancing in the park. Continue to Tian An Men Square, the largest public plaza in the world and visit the Great Hall of the People. Pass by the nearby National Theatre – ‘The Egg’ has fast become one of Beijing’s signature works of modern architecture. Spend a short time exploring the Qianmen district. Modern shops have edged out the past on the main thoroughfare, but along the side streets, local shops still abound. A special Peking Duck lunch will be served here at the famous Quanjude Roast Duck Restaurant. This afternoon, explore the incredible Forbidden City which was the Imperial Palace of the Ming and Qing Dynasty.

After breakfast, enjoy a full day excursion to the Great Wall at Mutianyu. You will take a cable car ride up to the wall which is one of the world's most awesome sights - over 3,700 miles long and the greatest man made structure in the world. Continue to the Ming Tombs to visit the Chang Tomb and stroll along the Sacred Way.

Visit the Summer Palace and Olympic Green

This morning, visit the lavish Summer Palace. Take a stroll along the 700+ metre ‘Long Corridor’, see the marble boat, and the 150 metre long, 17-arch bridge on Kunming Lake. Continue to visit the ancient alleyways or ‘hutongs’ near the Forbidden City. Meet some local residents and visit one of their homes. Today’s final visit is to Olympic Green to view some of the venues constructed for the 2008 Olympics. You will have some free time here to stroll the grounds, or visit one of the venues if you wish. This evening, enjoy the Legend of Kung Fu Show.

Head downstream through Qutang Gorge, the first of the three gorges. Next proceed through Wu Gorge. Later, disembark and board a small boat to ride along the Shennong Stream or Danning River. Re-board your ship and proceed through the passage cruising through Xiling, the longest and the last of the three gorges. Pass through the Three Gorges Dam Ship Locks. (Depending on river conditions, an optional excursion may be offered today to White Emperor City).
