What to expect: 

A comprehensive itinerary, with reasonably good accommodation. A great opportunity to explore this beutiful region - particularly local villages, markets etc. Stay at altitudes as high as 3200m, and ascend to closer to 4,000m during the sightseeing itinerary. Good general health and a high degree of mobility are required to participate fully in this tour. Visiting the sites will sometimes involve climbing many stairs, walking some long distances and climbing in and out of a moving gondola. Visiting the villages will involve walking on uneven dirt or cobblestone roads and paths.

Transport: Longer distances are covered by air or bus, but travel will also be by boat and gondola.

Accommodation:  An interesting mix of properties selected to offer a combination of local character and/or fabulous location wherever possible. Stay in the old towns of Jianshui, Dali and Lijiang in order to fully enjoy exploring them, and stay amidst traditional Tibetan architecture in Zhongdian. The Yuanyang hotel is simple, but serviceable (and the best in the area). Stay at a First Class hotel in Kunming across from Green Lake Park - great for walking and watching the locals practice their musical talents.
